Tony La Russa,a manager in Major League Baseball, currently with the St. Louis Cardinals, sued Twitter for eight causes of action.
It seems like someone has created an account in his name .The account contains picture of La Russa and some many vulgar updates. Therefore,he sued Twitter for trademark infringement, false designation of origin, trademark dilution, cybersquatting and some other four.In the complaint for the fourth cause of action, cybersquatting it is written: "Defendant’s actions as stated herein, including its registration and use of the domain name twitter.com/TonyLaRussa in an intentional attempt to divert the public away from Plaintiff’s authorized websites to Defendannt’s website, constitute a bad faith intent to profit from and injure Plaintiff’s mark,is intended to increase traffic to Defendant;s site,or were done with knowledge that injury Plaintiff’s mark was substantially certain to occur."
Indeed,an interesting case.We can only wait and see what is going to happen next. DKD DomainNews
