The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in Abu Dhabi launched the website of the .ae Domain Administration (.aeDA) that will become the definitive and authoritative resource for all facets of the domain name industry in the UAE.
Mohammad Al Ganem, TRA board member and director general said that “The TRA has endorsed the .aeDA to manage the .ae domain name on behalf of all domain name owners and internet users, both in the country and worldwide. Domain name retailers (registrars) and end users will have access to all relevant industry information in an easy-to-read and simple-to-understand format. The aim of the website is to promote the domain Name System framework, highlight the different members, and promote the use and utility of the .ae domain name.”
The .aeDA will be attending the GITEX Exhibition (GULFCOMMS) in Dubai from 8 – 12 September 2007.
They will be situated at the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) stand located in Zabeel Hall (Stand Z-D10).
TRA staff will be available to discuss the .ae Domain Name and the new regime and framework which will be launched towards the end of the year. The TRA consider this meeting to be important for the members of public to find out more information about this important transition as there will be changes to the Policy surrounding the .ae Domain Name and also in the way in which member so of the public can secure their name through the opening up of the market to various retails, once the new system is live.
Importantly, organisations that wish to become retailers of the .ae Domain Name (Registrars) will be invited to speak to staff and be instructed on the process (both technically and administratively) so that they are ready in time for the launch of the new system.

About .aeDA
The .aeDA was established in 2007 by the TRA as a department. It will be the, Regulatory Body and Registry Operator for the .ae domain name.
The .aeDA will be responsible for the setting and enforcement of all policy with regard to the operation of the .ae ccTLD as well as overseeing the operation of the Registry System.
The .aeDA’s role is to: • Develop and execute policy • Grow, develop and market the .ae namespace • Accredit and manage .ae Registrars • Educate the public, delivering and promoting the .ae domain name • Facilitate the .ae Dispute Resolution Policy
• Represent .ae at International Forums
As the .aeDA has been formed by the TRA, a federal government department, the .aeDA will continually strive to maintain best practice for the administration of the .ae ccTLD and will administer the .ae domain in a fair and transparent manner.
