Infibeam , the company that acquired the domain name dotOOO, expects to become one of the most popular extensions in a year .
Vishal Mehta, Infibeam’s chief executive said for The Economic Times, that he expects a couple of million .OOO registrations within a year.He added that a large number of users will come from smartphones.Moreover, he said that a;; 34,000 global brands registgered with the Trademark Clearing House have already acquired the .OOO domain name from Infibeam.The company will start delegating .OOO domain names these days.Specialists believe that there will be a rush to secure domain names in order to prevent cybersquatting or using the domain name in bad faith. Therefore, companies like Facebook, Google and Yahoo will most likely be among the first ones to secure domain names."If you have created an important website, it doesn’t matter if you have the .com suffix anymore be-cause you have so much social information and linking information."In an important site specially, like an ecommerce site, there are so many users linking to and coming out of that, that even if it were a ".es" or ".ly" or any other suffix, it will still float to the top of the search page before one finishes typing it out",said Aditya Dev Sood, CEO at design and innovation consultancy Center for Knowledge Societies.
