Irony would have it that as of today, there have been 2007 domain name dispute cases in 2007 at the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization). Those 2007 cases involved 3297 individual domain names, up nearly 10% over last year.
Not only are dispute resolutions on the rise but new dispute resolution organizations have been forming at the local level in other countries to address the rising number of cases. It is hardly a surprise that most dispute cases emanate from United States, followed by the UK, China and Canada. Most cases came from the Bio-tech and Pharmaceutical industries followed by the Banking and Financial sectors.
