Advice needed on purchasing a name please
Hi every one, I’m new to this forum, just signed up today!
I was wondering if anyone could advise me on my best approach to purchasing a domain which is about to expire? I’ve been after this domain name for a while now and I’ve kept an eye on it. It has been registered for a little over 10 years now but as far as I can tell has been parked for quite a long time. It was last renewed in october of last year and is set to expire next month. Now my first question is how long after a domian has expired does it become available for purchase, and second question, what is my best approach? My thoughts are that if allowed to expire it will eventually become available for anyone, but if I make an offer now, the owner may see it as an oportunity to make some big bucks! If I reserve the name with the registrant, can they also bump up the price? What is the best way to deal with this?

Oh I do it all the time. Either myself or the cat, both ways it’s the same because neither of us knows the answer to my questions. Nice to see that someone is alive on this forum though, I felt a bit like Robinson Crusoe, just cast away on a desert Island with nothing to eat but fish, whale meat again, and no one to talk to but a cat that happened to get cast away with me. Anyway, you wouldn’t happen to know the answer to my Q would you?
