If you are sellinf premium domain names – have them registeresd for more then one year. That is the way to awid loosing them.

Depends on the domain name. If that is good and attractive – why not pay for more then 1 year

For premium domain name better have long duration to avoid stupid losing, for others domain names year to year renewal will be find
