I believe that most designer firms do consulting service. If you are customer of designer firm – ask them to ask.

It all depends on the type of site you would like to creat. For instance if it were an ecommerce or minisite you would want to have a keyword rich SEO friendly domain like BabiesToys.com. If you are going the other way and are making a brand you will need to come up with something interesting and stick with it. The other type of site is a personal site or blog that really does not matter what the name of the domain is so long as you are doing what you want with it.

I think that you need to take in the consideration all what other suggest you. And most of all you need to run your own rules. Only in this way you will get the right domain name.
