Day One of DomainFest 2008 is in the books and we were on location to witness this eventful first day first hand…
Over 600+ participants and 25 sponsors and exhibitors are attending the event this year which represents a huge increase over last year’s event, a testament to the increasing popularity of the domain industry. According to the keynote speaker, Jeff Kupietzky from Oversee.net, 28% of the attendants own over 1000 domains and half of them are new to the industry.
Also worth mentioning is the fact that for the first time ever a large bank, in this case Bank of America is sponsoring a domain industry event. We all know that there is tremendous value in the domain industry, and now large financial insitutions are starting to pay attention and are taking the domain industry seriously.
The keynote address included a motivational speech by Brent Bishop, who’s achievements include reaching the peak of Mount Everest twice, followed by a Domain Industry Bootcamp for beginners and a session for more experienced domainers covering the aftermarket and appraisals side of the domain industry. All in all there be 7 learning sessions during Domainfest 2008 and 2 live auctions, one of which can be followed live Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon by downloading the SnapNames applet at https://www.snapnames.com/liveAuctionsFaqs.jsp#canIWatch
The afternoon sessions covered topics about successful negotiation tactics and easy steps you can take to build out domains, followed by a well attended cocktail party, highlighted by the presence of the 2007 & 2001 Playboy Playmates of the Year.
Stay tuned for our coverage of Day Two…
