Who says we are in a recession?! Vibrators.com just sold to PriveCo, which specializes in retailing sex products online for $1 million. The current owner is financing the deal which is why the Whois ownership has not changed. PriveCo made a 200K down-payment on the domain name and will be paying the rest off short term at 8% interest. Transfer will be done just before the end…
PriveCo began selling private things out of a spare bedroom on a website called ShopInPrivate.com back in 1998, and has steadily grown to an operation with 12 separate retail sites whose warehouse ships 1500+ packages per week. They have been running their business on www.Vibrators.com since 2002, essentially leasing the domain from someone else. The domain is currently registered to Vibesales in Jonesboro, Arizona, but Nardone says he bought the domain from an individual, not a company.
According to PriveCo, the price of the domain name is justifiable if you consider:
It is an instantly recognizable name
Tied to products that people want to buy in complete privacy
Customers will value PriveCo’s policies and services
Competitor websites lack professionalism and tact
PriveCo has strong experience in this field
In troubling economic times like the ones we are facing, the biggest challenge for domain holder and investors at large is to believe in the portfolio they hold. Many times investors lose faith and tend to sell off their holdings, creating great buying opportunities for others. If you have the money, buying PREMIUM domain names (TLDs and ccTLDs) could be the best decision you have made in your lifetime…
