MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS, Barcelona, Feb. 17, 2009 – dotMobi today announced its collaboration with the GSM Association (GSMA) to make the award-winning DeviceAtlas™ database available with an option for Type Allocation Codes (TAC). This will allow network operators to offer a host of new, innovative content and services tailored to users’ handsets. For instance, operators could send a welcome MMS to roaming customers with media-rich weather reports and links to local mobile Web sites rather than a static SMS network welcome message.

In October 2008 ICANN appointed JAS Communications as the consultants for the independent review of the SSAC, the Security and Stability Advisory Committee.

Domain Pulse 2009, the premier annual domain name conference for the German-speaking countries, took place this year in the beautiful Germany city of Dresden. While domain names are the focus of Domain Pulse, DENIC, this year’s organisers, diversified the conference to also include internet governance issues such as political campaigning and web 2.0, publicly financed media and the internet, the mobile internet, identity theft and advertising online.

Donations are starting to come in from around the world as the domainer community reaches into its wallet to help those in desperate need. So far $534.69 has been donated to help the victims and I hope and pray that more will be coming soon.
ICANN – Microsoft Collaborates With Industry to Disrupt Conficker Worm

Today, Microsoft announced a partnership with technology industry leaders and academia to implement a coordinated, global response to the Conficker (aka Downadup) worm.
Together with security researchers, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), and operators within the Domain Name System, Microsoft coordinated a response designed to disable domains targeted by Conficker. Microsoft also announced a $250,000 reward for information that results in the arrest and conviction of those responsible for illegally launching the Conficker malicious code on the Internet.

In today’s domain world, the secondary market is the place to shop. Consider it a domain name thrift store, or flea market. You will be hard pressed to find a valuable, generic domain in the primary market. The secondary market is where mny large corporations and end-users are finding the domains they need to supplement their current business presence. As we now know, internet-commerce has exploded, and is not going anywhere anytime soon.
