Eurid,the company behind .eu extension,released the .eu 2011 annual report.The reports revealed that .eu domain registrations continued to grow during 2011.2011 ended with 3.51 million .eu domains,a 5.5% growth compared with 2010. .EU’s largest market with the most .eu domain name registrations continued to be Germany in 2011,followed by Netherlands and the United Kingdom.Moreover,in 2011,Eurid introduced the multiyear registration,which allows people to register .eu domain names for up to ten years..EU maintained in 2011 its position as one of the ten largest TLDs in the world .In 2011,81.6% of .eu domains were renewed."By reflecting on what we achieved at .eu in 2011, we can look ahead with confidence to the changes that thousands of new gTLDs will bring to our industry.I consider .eu to be well placed to meet these market challenges as it inherently conveys a strong message that appeals to a large demographic – namely the 27 countries of the European Union," said Mr Van Wesemael.
