"This week, the world’s largest domain marketplace and monetization provider Sedo announced an exclusive agreement to broker the sale of at.com. At.com is a premium, two-letter domain name that is highly brandable and memorable, and could be used by companies looking for a domain name to match their acronym, or as a generic term related to email, local, or mobile services online.
Registered in 1989 by its original owner, at.com is one of the oldest two-letter domains. The current owner purchased the name in 1999, and the domain was developed as several different businesses over the course of its history, most successfully as a location-based search engine. At its peak, at.com reached 2 million users daily.
Two-letter .com domains have proven to be highly valuable for both big businesses such as American Airlines (aa.com) and H&M (hm.com), and for domain investors. Names such as fb.com ($8.5 million) and yp.com ($3.9 million) have sold at high price points, and Sedo brokered the half million dollar sale of li.com in 2007.
