AFNIC,the company behind .FR domain,announced recently that it has hosted an information update to raise corporate awareness about protecting domain names at Unifab .

"To raise corporate awareness about protecting domain names, Afnic hosted an information update on the issue at Unifab. Highlights:
On November 20, Unifab – the French Bureau for the international protection of intellectual property – organized a commission meeting on the protection of domain names with an information update from Afnic. Designed for businesses and professional circles wishing to protect their domain names better in their efforts to combat counterfeiting, those attending the meeting heard talks by two Afnic spokespersons:
Isabel Toutaud – Director of Legal Affairs and Registry Policy at Afnic – who spoke on litigation management for domain names with the .fr extension. Ms Toutaud introduced the Syreli dispute resolution system in particular.
Loïc Damilaville – Deputy Director in charge of Strategy at Afnic – gave a progress report on the process concerned in creating new extensions, and in particular on all the issues related to the protection of the intellectual property involved
