AFNIC,the company behind .fr domain,organized early in October a two-day meeting for its registrars in order to review recent changes and future developments .

"Early in October, Afnic organized a two-day meeting for its registrars. The goal was to review recent changes as well as future developments
The 2nd edition of the Afnic Registrar Day was held on October 4 and 9 in Lyon and Paris. Some forty registrars came to the two venues in order to:
learn more about Afnic, our Client Service and Account Managers;
discuss opening the TLD to holders in Europe, accreditation, and opening IDNs;
learn more about the issues and opportunities involved in the new gTLDs;
receive feedback on the results of the ergonomic web study;
take part in the legal workshop (rules and procedures) and the Technical Working Group, etc.
The sixty participants particularly appreciated the bilingual nature of the discussions during the two days, and the accessibility of their account managers. The topics expected for the next edition of the Afnic Registrar Day include the opening to domain names with 1 or 2 characters, the multi-year registration of domain names and promotional operations on the .fr TLD… "
