Today, Network Solutions has released a statement to prevent damaging their reputation any further after the inevitable public backlash from allegations of domain name front running. The statements made today indicate that they are planning on reversing some controversial elements of their new registration process.
Network Solutions spokeswoman, Susan Wade, said Wednesday that Network Solutions is “making improvements to our protection measure.”
She indicated that they will only offer a generic “under construction” page for sites that were reserved.
Furthermore, she mentioned that enhancements will be made that will address the concerns related to the disclosure of zone file and DNS server information of reserved names.
Another change coming soon is that Network Solutions will register domains only when people search for domains from the company’s home page. No longer will it do so when people use the company’s Whois search page, Wade said.
Seems that the public outcry had an immediate effect on Network Solution’s management team and that they are taking the matter seriously. Lets hope the changes that have been announced will into effect immediately.
